Mediation as an Viable Option? Only as a Delaying Tactic for Fernandes

Recently, it has been brought up that the Board is considering mediation as a viable option for them to consider than the other more appropriate option: Fernandes’ removal.

Mediation is doomed to fail at this stage of the crisis. It requires both parties to willingly come together to the table and to compromise. It is abundantly clear that neither party will do so.

So why would the administration push for mediation? Fernandes, who obviously knows that mediation won’t work, would want to see the board push for mediation than the drastic measure of removing her. Why? At the very least, the Board could say that it asked for mediation, it failed, and the Board can say they did the best they could. Fernandes, on the other hand, has nothing to lose with this delaying tactic. Every day that passes with her as President-Elect is another day that she firmly tightens her grip on the position and digs her heels even more deeply.

Fernandes’ father should be a bit disappointed in his daughter. He knows full well that Jane could have headed off the crisis from reaching this degree of tragedy.

How could Jane’s father know this?

Sunday’s Washington Post noted that Jane’s father is a retired judge but it neglected to mention one important item:

Jane’s father, Richard Kelleher, is a professional mediator.

Too bad Jane didn’t pick up the “fair and neutral” genes displayed by her father.
