Celebrations may be premature as the protestors’ two demands have NOT been met!
The Board of Trustees has released this statement as well:
TO: Gallaudet University
FROM Board of Trustees
DATE: October 29, 2006
RE: Statement of the Board
“The Board of Trustees respects the right of people to express their
views in a peaceful manner. However, individuals who violated the law
and Gallaudet University’s Code of Conduct willbe held accountable. We
expect the University to honor its long tradition of respect for each
other and property and to return to normal.”
In other words, the university will continue to engage in reprisals, whether they be deemed “corrective,” “punitive,” or “disciplinary” actions!
Jordan will still wield an over-sized paddle for the next two months and he is certain to use it!
The fight is only half over!

Nope. The fight is over.
You are not going to get a free pass just because you decided to break the law. This will create a poor example for future peers if the inexcusable behaviors were forgiven.

Are we distinguishing between those protestors who closed the gates from those who destroyed the SAC sign and College Hall window? The latter certainly deserve punishment; the former no.

Hey, Rob;
I would point out that the GUFSSA.com site says the two demands are: JKF go bye-bye and the presidential search reopened. Those have been met. The No Reprisals demand was dropped (after summer?) .
That said, I agree with you above: Idiots who damaged university property should be prosecuted. People who were simply protesting should face either no reprisals or get simple community service.

what about a few staff members? they should not be on administrative leaves. They should go back to work immediately. Why are they not at work? Without them, JK would have been our President. Please fight to have no reprisal for these employees. they need our support this time. Help fighting to remove the reprisal. That may be the last laugh for IKJ and Paul Kelly.
